hurricane helene relief grant cycle now open
Highlands Cashiers Health Foundation Hurricane Relief Grants are now available to support Hurricane Helene relief efforts in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Jackson, Macon, and Swain Counties, as well as the Qualla Boundary. The application period is open and will continue until December 2, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
If your organization has a physical presence in one of these areas and is actively involved in aiding the community in response to Hurricane Helene, you are encouraged to apply for financial assistance.
These grants are designed to assist with the extraordinary expenses incurred while providing emergency, relief, or recovery services for eligible organizations affected by the storm. It’s important to note that these grants cannot be used for ongoing operational costs, lost revenue, lost wages, or expenses already covered by other sources. Eligibility for emergency public funding (local, state or federal) will be addressed in the application.
Examples of types of support we are seeking to help: Food Access, Healthcare Access, Home/Property Repair, Transportation, Mental Health, and enhancing your organization’s capacity to support hurricane relief efforts.
Hurricane Relief Grant Opportunities
Grants up to $15,000 to be awarded to eligible organizations for the costs of relief services provided by organizations, such as food distribution, temporary shelter, transportation, health care, and mental health support. Many organizations suffered damage to their facilities during the storm. Grants can fund repairs and the replacement of damaged equipment, enabling them to resume operations. We will not fund new building construction or land purchase.
