Jane Jerry was the founding director of the Children’s Museum of Rhode Island and the Children’s Museum of Houston. From Texas, Jane and her husband George moved to Nashville TN where she was the CEO of Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art. After ten years at Cheekwood she became the Planning Director for Exploration Station, a Science Center for young people in Dublin, Ireland. In 2008, when the world economy cratered, the Irish government put the project on hold and the Jerrys returned to the US, eventually relocating in Highlands, where Jane was the Executive Director of The Bascom: a Visual Arts Center. During her museum career, Jane served as a board member and President of the American Association of Youth Museums and Vice President of the American Association of Museums. After retirement Jane became an active community volunteer in Highlands, serving as a Board Member and Chair for the Literacy and Learning Center, Board Member of the Counseling Center in Highlands and Committee Member for Bel Canto, an annual opera recital. She particularly enjoys special projects like “Imagine the Future” and the “Bee Kind” art competitions that involved students at Highlands School.
